Podcast 148: Celebrating Success with Addie Dulaney-Majnaric

Welcome and thanks for listening. How do we measure success when it comes to wellness or in becoming plant based. Is it a few more vegetables or a loss of weight? Perhaps a better HgA1C measuring glucose control. The excitement that plant based nutrition can help to reverse lifestyle diseases is often dampened by the difficulty in making a change. After all, only 6 % of the US population is vegan, so there are a lot of stumbling blocks as marketing efforts are not geared toward your newly adopted lifestyle. So how can we keep from being derailed and falling into our previous eating habits?
In this episode Addie and I help you to focus on your successes. Think of the ultimate reward of optimal health and wellness but focus on the smaller goals along the way and celebrate your successes along the way. Each medicine that we wean people off of is a huge milestone that was often not thought possible a few months earlier. But blood glucose values do not return to normal in a steady progression but decline more on a wave like curve. Each day the insulin levels go down there is a decrease in total body inflammatory markers. This results in more energy and less joint discomfort and better blood flow to all parts of the body. Celebrate your success by journaling or sticky notes on the fridge. Fill a jar with little hand written notes of your triumphs no matter the size. Take them out and read them when you feel your progress is slowing. We are happy to be a part of your health journey and look forward to hearing from you.
