Podcast: Why not focus on Lifestyle Disease Reversal in Concierge Medicine?

Welcome! and Thank you for listening.  Today I am joined by my registered dietitian, Addie Majnaric as we discuss my talk at the Concierge Medicine Today conference in Georgia.

It is easy to preach to the choir but not so nearly so easy to speak to those hearing a message that is contrary to what they are used to.  The theme of the meeting was, you are unique.  Physicians that step outside of the establishment of how medicine is practice might be considered unique or just fed up.  But if we continue to practice medicine like we have for the past 70 years focusing on following lifestyle diseases instead of reversing them, we will not extend life expectancy or the quality of life.  We have to change our approach and focus on reversal and prevention of lifestyle diseases such as high cholesterol, diabetes, heart disease, dementia and cancer instead of looking for ways to merely live with these chronic diseases.

Addie and I discuss this and much more.  We are focused on improving quality longevity through a plant based diet and active lifestyle.  We celebrate movement and plant foods in their most natural state in the right quantities to sustain an active life.

First , congrats to Addie on your half marathon! Well done.
NOW Congrats to both of you for having the courage to even bring the idea of “getting the patient healthy “ to a Concierge Medicine convention, which was/is really about increasing the customer base and marketing buzz words.
The two of you are a candle in the wind changing the medical business model of family medicine, one patient at a time, leading by example as true leaders do. I truly don’t think the two of you realize how foreign the idea of helping a patient restore themselves to good health through, education, nutrition, exercise and overall lifestyle and encouragement is to today’s national medical community.
Thank you, I am very happy to have found you both and be a member of your practice.
