CARDIOLOGY, PRIMARY CARE AND NUTRITION

Episode 111-Backyard to Vineyard Challenge

Welcome. The Backyard to Vineyard Challenge at the Biltmore Estates in Asheville, N.C. is in the books. I completed a 13.1 mile run on Saturday and a 26.2 mile race the next day. It was part paved and part dirt road/trail all on the Biltmore property. The scenery was fantastic and mother nature added another challenge by snowing 3 inches Saturday night with blizzard like snow at the beginning of the race on Sunday. The roads turned from slush to mud fairly quick giving my trail shoes a great initiation. Asheville is a plant based eaters paradice with many restarants to choose as well as many cuisines. The races were well supported with water and nutrition as well. It was so good we signed up again for next year. We also chat a little on transitioning your family to whole foods plant based without a mutany from the teenagers. Bottom line, just don’t make a big deal out of it. Present colorful food that tastes great and back out the bad stuff without making a fuss. Slip in a few more vegetables even pureed into soups and stews if need be. Smoothies are a great way to hide a cup of greens for the little ones. Eliminating dairy will protect them against Juvenile diabetes and arthritis.
