The Wellness Model vs The Sickness Model

In today’s healthcare world the disputes are over insurance coverage for illness. The price of insurance has skyrocketed over the past several years in part because the “health” of those covered continues to worsen. Insurance plans have higher and higher deductibles so that premiums can be afforded. Instead of focusing on health we are worried about meeting deductibles before our coverage kick in.
Our practice is aimed at restoring health and avoiding illness so that deductibles and insurance are only needed for accidents or catastrophic illnesses. Reversing lifestyle diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, obesity and high cholesterol not only improves ones quality of life but lowers ones health care costs. Just following a lifestyle illness as described above does not change the destruction it does to the body overtime resulting in cancers, arthritis, kidney failure, and heart failure. These illnesses and organ failure need not happen. Having “insurance” does nothing to improve health. If anything it promotes worsening health because we let down our guard falsely thinking our bodies can be “fixed” if they break.
The changes we can make in this new model are very exciting. I cannot wait to work with you to help you reach optimal health and wellness and enjoy life to the fullest.
