Podcast: Fiber, Expensive Cars and Big Muscles

Welcome! and Thank you for listening.

I am joined by Addie Majnaric, RDN today to discuss fiber and it’s role in health and the potential to limit the car size of GI doctors.

There are many hacks to lifespan on social media.  GLP-1 Agonists such as semaglutide are all the rage for curing obesity, addiction and various other ailments.  They run about $1600.00 per month.  It is too soon to determine if they result in increased longevity but a simple sulfonylurea drug such as Glyburide at $14.00 per month! was studied to see if it could lengthen life in mice and it did!  But there is a catch. There is also a catch with metformin another diabetic drug.  Most people are very willing to take something that might help if it is cheap or free even if there are potential side effects.

One thing that also improves longevity is increased muscle mass.  And the best way to get big muscles is to lift heavy things on a regular basis. I will give you why I am even more motivated to lift heavy things and propel my body into the air on this podcast.

Thanks for listening.

    Great important information on fiber…….

Wasn’t sure about the mice thing….how can you study anything about humans looking at how mice react…..or any animal….look what thalidomide did….and des…..drugs that were tested on animals proved to be safe and then given to humans…

Always interested in the strength training……ha,ha on the Nathan info….looks like good stuff to do…
