Welcome, and Thank you for listening!. This episode is a recap of the Austin Marathon. One of my facinations about running long distance is it’s correlation to life. You prepare and plan, but you really do not know what is coming until you actually begin to experience it. We can control control for some variables, but often the context changes making that preparation less than adequate. Life, like a marathon can throw you some curve balls. But, we have a choice as to how we respond, and we get to use that information in the future. Spoiler alert, I finished the marathon in 4 hours and 34 minutes, smiling.
Taking a look at your current health status and invoking a change requires daily practice and mindfulness. It is quite easy to fall back into familiar ways. Sometimes we have to be patient and allow our bodies to adjust. Other times, we need to get our head out of the way and just push through. That sounds a lot like training and racing a marathon. It is all pretty simple on paper, but the implementation can be quite tricky.
When you run a marathon with thousands of people running and cheering on the sidelines, you are pulled by the energy of the crowd. You want to push hard to compete with those running and push hard not to disappoint the spectators cheering with all their hearts. It makes running 26.2 a lot easier than running by yourself. The same can be said for changing your health status and nutrition. It is a lot easier when you have support and guidance.
I would like to invite you to a marathon of health education. If you want a week long training session with us, sign up for our immersion vacation beginning March 23, 2020. Each day will be filled with exercise, nutrition education, cooking education and health evaluation and planning. The goal is to give you the tools to continue your health training program when you get home. The event culminates in our Fifth Annual Charlotte County Plant Based Nutrition Conference, March 28, 2020. It is an all day event of speakers, education and networking. You will leave motivated, energetic, and full of ideas on how to continue to improve your health. Go to doctordulaney.com and click the link to sign up.
