Blogpost: A Letter to Visitors in Your Home

Dear friends and relatives coming to visit,

We are anxiously awaiting your arrival and hope spend the days showing you are favorite places and catching up on what is new.  It seems as though the world is becoming a more unhealthy place.  Our oceans are suffering from algae blooms and plastics.  Our fish and wildlife are dying.  We humans are suffering as well from the toll that being overweight has done to  our joints and organ functions.  Much of the population suffers from obesity, hypertension, hyperlipidemia and diabetes.  It has become so widespread that it is starting to appear normal.

I refuse to let the negativity of this news ruin our time together.  I have decided to make a personal decision to do what I can to improve my health, and at the same time, improve my envirnoment.  I am voting with my dollars to choose healthy and vow to become a lighthouse  and rock to support those who wish to join me.  By not supporting those places that do not offer me my reqested healthy choices, I am casting my vote for different options.  My food choices of the past have not served me or the enviroment well, and I have decided to make a change.

I am not asking you to do anything other than to support my decision.  I promise to show you a great time while visiting.  My home is my safe zone.  This means that is is free of junk food and animal products.  I will treat you to new recipes I have learned to make with fresh fruits and vegetables.  I will not be offended if you choose to eat differently when you are not in my home.  I will be limited in my restaurant choices, but I do have options that will allow both of us selections.

I appreciate your support for my new journey.  I know you would not try to sway me in any other lifestyle decisions, and I truely believe we can still have many great moments despite this difference.   I am new to this, and I am still learning.   I will share my knowledge, my struggels and successes only if you desire and will not make them the only topic of discussion.

I look forward to your visit and cannot wait to catch up.
